Hertfordshire County Council is responsible for minerals and waste planning in the Herts area, and following planning reform in 2004 needed to bring its policies up-to-date to conform with the new Local Development Framework structure for spatial planning.  

Essential Planning Ltd provided policy advice on minerals and waste planning, and stakeholder engagement throughout 2004 and early 2005, as part of development of the Hertfordshire Minerals and Waste Local Development Framework.  This contributed to publication of the Minerals Local Plan following an Inquiry process, the Statement of Community Involvement and initial stages of the Waste Development Plan Documents.
